Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Dartford and cover SE London and Kent, including Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Swanley, Orpington, Eltham, Thamesmead and Charlton. If you are not sure whether we reach you, call or WhatsApp Anthony on 07896 000354.

How long have you been trading?

Since 2012. The company traded as JJB Electrical & Heating Services until 2026, when it was renamed JJB Heating & Cooling to focus on heating and air conditioning installs, alongside electrical work such as rewires and consumer units.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes. JJB is on the Gas Safe Register, registration number 534255 (listed under our former name, JJB Electrical & Heating Services Ltd). You are welcome to ask to see the engineer's Gas Safe ID card, and all gas work is carried out and certified to current regulations.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Quotes are free and valid for 30 days. We will look at the job, talk through the options and give you a clear written price before any work starts.

How do I pay?

Payment is by bank transfer. A deposit of 25% may be required to secure your booking and cover materials, with the balance due when the work is complete.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:00. We are closed on Sundays and do not offer a 24-hour call-out service.

What warranty do I get?

We are a Vaillant-approved installer, so we can offer an extended Vaillant warranty of up to 10 years on qualifying boilers. Other brands carry the manufacturer's own warranty, and all of our labour has a 12-month workmanship guarantee.

How much does a new boiler cost?

Most installs fall between £2,000 and £4,500 supplied and fitted. The price depends on the boiler, where it is going and how much pipework needs changing. You get a clear written quote first.

How long does a boiler swap take?

A like-for-like combi swap is usually done in a single day. If a system is heavily sludged and needs a second day of cleaning, we explain why and agree the cost with you first.

Is a power flush included?

Yes. A power flush is included as standard with our combi boiler swaps, so your new boiler starts on clean system water.

Which boiler brands do you fit?

We fit Vaillant, Worcester Bosch, Baxi and other leading brands, including combi, system and electric boilers. As a Vaillant-approved installer, we usually recommend Vaillant, as we can offer an extended warranty of up to 10 years.

What type of air conditioning do you install?

We install wall-mounted split systems for bedrooms, living rooms and home offices. The indoor unit sits on the wall and connects to a compact outdoor unit.

Are you F-Gas certified?

Yes. JJB Heating & Cooling Ltd holds an F-Gas company certificate from Refcom, number REF1026193. It covers installing, servicing, repairing and decommissioning air conditioning systems.

How do I know what size unit I need?

We size every system from a free survey. Room size, how much sun the room gets and how it is used all affect the size of unit you need, so we never guess.

Can air conditioning heat as well as cool?

Many modern split units can also provide heating, which can be useful in spring and autumn. At the survey, we will tell you what the unit you choose can do.

When is the best time to install air con?

Outside the summer rush. Booking in spring or autumn means the system is ready the moment the hot weather arrives.

How much does air conditioning cost?

It depends on the number of rooms, the size of the units and the pipe run between the indoor and outdoor units. We give you a clear written quote after a free survey.

Do you install underfloor heating?

Yes. We install wet underfloor heating, including low-profile overlay systems for kitchens, bathrooms and extensions, and can check the loops with a thermal camera before the floor goes down.

Do you fit unvented hot water cylinders?

Yes. We install unvented cylinders such as Megaflo and Gledhill, which give mains-pressure hot water to every tap at once.

My radiators have cold spots. What is wrong?

Cold spots at the bottom of a radiator usually mean sludge has built up in the system. A power flush clears it and restores the heat output.

Can you add radiators or extend my heating?

Yes. We add and replace radiators and run heating into extensions, checking that your boiler can handle the extra load.

What guarantee do you give on heating work?

All of our labour carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee, and parts are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

What electrical work do you do?

We carry out full and partial rewires, consumer unit (fuse board) upgrades, kitchen electrics and fault finding for homes across Dartford, SE London and Kent.

Are you NAPIT registered?

Yes. JJB is registered with NAPIT for domestic electrical installation, member number 11895 (listed under our former name, JJB Electrical & Heating Services Ltd). Notifiable work, such as a rewire or a new consumer unit, is certified and notified to building control through NAPIT.

Do you do full-house rewires?

Yes, full or partial. We can combine a rewire with a new boiler or central heating so the work is planned together and done by one firm.

Can you replace my old fuse board?

Yes. We replace old fuse boards with modern consumer units. We check the existing wiring first and give you a clear written quote before any work starts.

Can you find and fix an electrical fault?

Yes. Tell us what has stopped working, for example a circuit or an outbuilding that has lost power, and we will find the fault, repair it and explain how to avoid it in future.
