Loft System Boiler and Horizontal Cylinder

The Brief

This install put a Vaillant system boiler and a horizontal unvented cylinder in the loft, keeping both out of the living space while giving strong mains-pressure hot water.

What We Did

The work included:

• Vaillant system boiler: A Vaillant system boiler was fitted on the loft wall.
• Gledhill horizontal cylinder: A Gledhill 210-litre horizontal unvented cylinder was installed alongside it. The horizontal design lies flat across the loft joists, which makes it a good fit where there is not the height for an upright cylinder.
• Insulated pipework: All of the pipework in the loft was insulated and run neatly to the boiler and cylinder.

The Result

The household now has mains-pressure hot water from a 210-litre cylinder. Because both the boiler and the cylinder are in the loft, the whole system sits out of the way while still being easy to reach for servicing.
